Who's vs Whose

Same sound, two jobs. The apostrophe is the giveaway.

  • WHO'S — short for “who is” or “who has.” Who's coming? Who's eaten my sandwich?
  • WHOSE — belonging to whom. Whose goat is this?

Quick tip: if you can say “who is/has,” use who's; for belonging, whose.
