Your, You're

Two words, one sound, and the internet is full of people getting them wrong. Each has one job:

  • YOUR — it belongs to you. your goat, your passport, your enormous hat.
  • YOU'RE — short for “you are.” You're late. You're standing on my foot. You're a goat.

Quick tip: if you can say “you are,” write you're. If not, it's your.
